“At a point in my life a few years ago when I was really struggling with a specific relationship in my family ( ..that’s very important to me) I didn’t know what to do. After a few more days of stressing, I reached out to a mentor and what you see in the video is what he shared with me from that phone call. A technique to this day I..
value A LOT and use VERY frequently during daily life.
I mean take a second to think about any little or big thing that you’re currently upset with or would like to see change asap. Have you said anything to anyone? ..or have you just been “stuffing” it? Personally I’ve had a bad habit in the past of always wanting to be the nice guy who wants to be liked and seeks everyone’s approval.. so I wouldn’t say anything. Luckily I’m not very challenged with that anymore and speak up when I feel I need to. And I’m not gonna lie, a lot of my confidence came from seeing how well this technique worked and continues to work in my life.
My goal with this video was to share as simply and clearly as possible, how it works. So if you’re the kind of person (..like me, haha) who likes to see things visually, take a look below for a reminder of how to apply in your life.
STEP 1
communicate your COMMITMENT (ie. “Honey, I’m committed to being a great husband/wife”)
STEP 2
communicate your COMPLAINT (ie. “I’ve been challenged recently with the behavior I’ve seen, and the words that have been chosen when we’re speaking to each other)
STEP 3
communicate your REQUEST (ie. “In order to make sure we continue to have a balanced and loving relationship, I’d like to request that we speak to each other with more integrity than what’s been happening in the past, are you open to that?”)
..now like most things I share on video, is this guaranteed to work? ..no. But here’s where it works great, if you’re just struggling with an effective approach of how to confront someone about something that’s really been bugging you. What do you have to lose? Give it a shot:) ..nothing always works, but it’s another great tool to have on your tool belt!
Would love to hear from any of you who confront someone about an issue that’s been driving you crazy but you’ve just never said anything till now! ..haha, go for it!!! Leave me any comments or questions down below!”
Love, Kyle
